CARE WORKERS’ CAR SET ALIGHT IN UK FAR RIGHT DEMONSTRATIONS:

Care worker whose car was unrecognisable after far right demonstrations traumatised

Violent far-right demonstrations have erupted across the UK in the wake of a tragic event that shook the nation: The murders of three young girls in Southport. As the nation grapples with the grief and horror of these events, extremist groups have seized the moment to further their agenda, leading to a surge of far right demonstrations, violence, vandalism, and fear in communities across the country.

In a disturbing turn of events, an innocent care workers’ car was set alight in Middlesbrough symbolising the dangerous turn these protests have taken and the growing threat to public safety. Brendan Nwabichie had been working in one of the town’s care homes, but when he returned to his home he discovered his car had been destroyed after being flipped upside down and set alight. Mr Nwabichie said: “When I came back home, I just saw the remnants of it. I could not recognise it.”

“I went to the bathroom and cried because I know how long it took me to save the money to buy it.

“It makes me question what am I even doing here?” A video taken earlier in the week shows a gang of masked hooligans flipping over the silver vehicle.

This attack on a care workera profession built on compassion and services—underscores the deeply troubling nature of these protests. Care workers, who often work tirelessly to support the most vulnerable in society, have now become targets in this wave of violence, simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

A fundraising page set up by his employer, Clare’s Care UK, has raised more than £37,000 for a new car and to help cover the damage made to the community by the thugs. “Brendan has worked so hard for this to be taken away overnight by ‘peaceful protests’ which was shared by Brendan’s colleagues on the ‘Go Fund Me’ fundraiser created for him.

A Call for Unity and Peace

As the UK faces this wave of unrest, community leaders and organisations are calling for calm and unity. East London, Walthamstow was particularly busy with the streets packed with an estimated 10,000 anti-fascist demonstrators. They stress that it is more crucial than ever for communities to come together in solidarity, rejecting hate and violence.
